Browse commonly used sutures for orthopaedic surgery, tendon repair, ligament reconstruction, sports medicine procedures and soft tissue closure. Explore absorbable and non-absorbable options used throughout orthopaedic practice.
Orthopaedic procedures often place significant demands on suture materials, particularly during tendon repair, ligament reconstruction and sports medicine procedures. Strong wound support, reliable knot security and excellent handling characteristics are often key requirements.
ETHIBOND® polyester sutures are commonly associated with tendon and ligament repair due to their strength and handling characteristics. PDS II® may be selected when extended absorbable wound support is required, while VICRYL® is frequently used for soft tissue approximation and layered closure.
MONOCRYL® and PROLENE® may be used for subcuticular and skin closure depending on the procedure and surgeon preference. Final suture selection should always be based on tissue requirements, surgical technique and clinical judgement.
