Learn about PTFE sutures, including material composition, handling characteristics, dental implant applications and periodontal surgery uses.
PTFE sutures are manufactured from polytetrafluoroethylene and are widely used in dental implant, periodontal and regenerative procedures. Their smooth monofilament construction and low tissue reactivity make them particularly popular in oral surgery environments.
PTFE materials are frequently selected during implant placement, guided bone regeneration and soft tissue grafting procedures where clean wound closure and predictable healing are important.
Depending on procedural requirements, clinicians may consider PROLENE® for non-absorbable monofilament closure, VICRYL RAPIDE® for absorbable oral surgery closure or MONOCRYL® where absorbable monofilament wound support is preferred.
